An additional five people were transported to area hospitals.

Crews on scene report that three injured individuals are in critical condition. Four others were in stable condition.

Johnson said the Ohio Department of Transportation’s current resurfacing project may have contributed to the accident.

“ODOT is up here doing a resurfacing project. So, just preliminary investigations stuff. Obviously, just people not paying attention to the flow of traffic with lanes being shut down. Car just not paying attention and switching out and we had one vehicle that ran into two other vehicles,” Johnson said.

Our crew on scene reported seeing local animal control arrived on the scene and pulled two dogs out of one of the vehicles involved. The dogs were alive.

I-675 northbound has reopened after being previously shut down while crews respond were on scene.
