The St. Louis Cardinals placed right-hander Miles Mikolas on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right forearm tightness.

Mikolas left Saturday night’s 2-1 win against the Chicago Cubs after four solid innings. He allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Mikolas, 32, was making his first appearance in the majors since the 2019 National League Championship Series. He missed all of 2020 and the start of 2021 while recovering from surgery on his right elbow.

An All-Star and an 18-game winner in 2018, Mikolas owns a 31-24 career record with a 3.81 ERA in 102 games (75 starts) with the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers and Cardinals.

In a corresponding move, St. Louis recalled right-handed reliever Junior Fernandez from Triple-A Memphis. He pitched in one game for the Cardinals this season, allowing three runs in one inning in a May 15 loss at San Diego.
