Former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, former second lady Karen Pence are moving back to their home state of Indiana this weekend, USA Today reported.
“There’s no place like home and Indiana is home,” Karen Pence said in a statement to the outlet.
A spokesperson for the couple said they have been renting a house in suburban Virginia after former President Trump and Mike Pence left office in January. The Pences have purchased a home north of Indianapolis.
Karen Pence also told USA Today that the couple, longtime fans of the Indy500 race, wanted to move back to their home state before the annual race later this month.
The home is not located in the congressional district that Mike Pence represented from 2001 to 2013. The district is currently represented by Rep. Greg Pence (R-Ind.), the former vice president’s brother.
The former second couple earlier this year said that they planned to move back to Indiana.
News of the former second family’s move comes after Mike Pence last month announced the creation of a new political advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom.
“Advancing American Freedom plans to build on the success of the last four years by promoting traditional Conservative values and promoting the successful policies of the Trump Administration,” Pence said in a statement.
“Conservatives will not stand idly by as the radical Left and the new administration attempt to threaten America’s standing as the greatest Nation in the world with their destructive policies,” he continued.
The nonprofit group is set to be advised by several former Trump administration officials and prominent conservatives, including Kellyanne Conway and Larry Kudlow.
The Hill has reached out to Pence’s office for comment.
