Austin, TX: What's that? There's a rumbly in your tummy? If you're near Austin and you like Italian, you won't be a bit hungry after you stop at Mandola's Kitchen. The servings are generous and there's not a chance you'll leave hungry.
My husband and I stopped by for lunch and decided we'd definitely return, perhaps early in the day so we can enjoy a big lunch and skip dinner or enjoy the leftovers a second time. We visited the Cedar Park location at: 12100 W Parmer Ln Ste. 200 Cedar Park, TX 78613, just a few minutes outside of Austin.
The server brought some Foccacia, a traditional Italian bread, to start the meal.

If we had any idea how generous the portion would be, we wouldn't have ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer.

The bruschetta was a garlic toast topped with tomatoes, garlic, basil & extra virgin olive oil. Scrumptious.
My husband ordered the lasagna. Lasagna is one of his favorite Italian dishes, and he likes to compare one lasagnae to another.

This lasagne was $14 and is pasta layered with meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella & Romano.
I ordered the gnocchi.

This delicious dish was priced at $12.50. It was made of little Italian dumplings in a classic bolognese sauce made with beef, pork, garlic, aromatic vegetables, tomatoes & milk. I almost licked my lips and fingers.
As if we weren't already full enough, we tempted ourselves with dessert. We'd been to this Austin kitchen before and only had the dessert. This Italian creme cake is the best there is, besides our personal favorite out of our own Aunt Vicky's kitchen. Since our Aunt lives across the country, we can't eat her version of this resipe. This is the next best thing. Have a look.

Your mouth will water. At least our mouths did. At $5.50 you can't go wrong with a rich, moist double layer cake, made with buttermilk, coconut and walnuts, filled and iced with cream cheese icing and finished with toasted coconut.
You can roll away from the table happy.
