June looks promising for video game enthusiasts.

Summer Game Fest begins June 10 at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT, and the streamed live event will include more than a dozen premieres and announcements of upcoming games. More livestream events are planned for the rest of the fest.

Participants include PlayStation, Xbox, Activision, 2K, Amazon Games, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Riot Games, Tencent Games and Ubisoft.

New independent games will be highlighted in Days of the Devs, a showcase produced by iam8bit and Double Fine Productions.

Rock band Weezer will perform live June 10, playing "a brand new, stream safe game soundtrack song that can be freely streamed on Twitch, YouTube and anywhere else without being blocked or losing monetization, in an effort to help eliminate the challenges creators often encounter with popular music," the organizers said in the announcement.

“As a free, fan-first, global experience, Summer Game Fest will bring the entire video game community together for a memorable month of announcements and updates,” said Geoff Keighley, who hosted the first Summer Games Fest last year during the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans can watch Summer Game Fest on all the major streaming platforms, including Facebook, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube. More musical performances and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks. Follow @summergamefest on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter for updates.

Summer Games Fest will coincide with the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the annual Los Angeles-based video games convention that was canceled last year during the pandemic

Keighley, who founded and has hosted the Game Awards since 2014, had been part of E3, hosting interviews and events in the E3 Coliseum.

This year's E3, also an online-streamed event, will begin June 7 for media and open to fans June 12-15. Nintendo and Microsoft (Xbox) are among companies that will participate, Gamespot reported, but Sony is not.

Video game online fun will continue into July: Electronic Arts announced its own EA Play online event for July 22.
