There’s a little slice of Highway 3049 in Louisiana that transforms into quite the scenic byway when thousands of sunflowers bloom every summer. Gas up the car and don’t forget your camera, because you’re not doing to want to let the season pass you by without checking out the Sunflower Trail Festival in Gilliam.

The fields are open to the public as long as they are in bloom. There is no admission fee, no hours of operation... just good old-fashioned farm fields!
You are welcome to bring scissors and take some flowers home with you.
This non-profit festival traditionally takes place on the third Saturday of June every year, and it's back for its 22nd year of celebrating this cheerful flower.
You might even find a new favorite product!
Sounds like a perfect day to us!

Timing is key with this trail, so be sure to follow the Sunflower Trail & Festival on Facebook so you don’t miss out when these beauties begin to bloom. Have you ever been to the Sunflower Festival or driven down the trail? Let us know in the comments below!
