Douglas County Health Department reports 70 additional COVID-19 cases, no new death certificates

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Monday, the Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) reported 70 additional COVID-19 cases, which were confirmed over the past three days.

With the new cases, the community’s total, since the pandemic began in March of 2020 is 71,544.

The department received no new death certificates related to the virus so that total remains at 710.

The DCHD also said 65,070 people to date have recovered from COVID-19.

Other data from the department:

  • According to the most recent local hospital report received yesterday (Sunday) afternoon:
    • Medical and surgical beds were at 70% occupancy with 449 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 66% rate with 116 beds available. There were 56 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 22 of them receiving adult ICU level care. There are also six more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results). Twelve individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
  • The Douglas County Health Department’s (DCHD) partnership with North Omaha’s faith-based community continues tomorrow (Tuesday) with a second church-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic. These clinics will offer the Pfizer vaccine so anyone 12 years of age and older can be vaccinated. Those 12-to-18 years of age will need a parent or adult guardian with them. Walk-ins are welcome but those who prefer to make an appointment can do so at www.douglascountyhealth.com.

      • Saturday, May 22nd: New Life Presbyterian Church from 11-3pm. 4060 Pratt Street.
