Hearing for trio charged in deadly Christmas Day home invasion waived

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Three suspects were expected to be in court Monday to face charges for their alleged role in a deadly home invasion last Christmas in York County, but Channel 9 learned that their preliminary hearing was waived.

Deputies said Travis Baxter, Jackie Childers and Virginia Ratcliffe broke into a home and attacked a couple that lived there.

All three suspects were set to have a 3 p.m. court hearing, but officials said Monday that the hearing had been waived.

They are accused of beating the couple and stealing from the home.

Sarah Childers, 72, died from her injuries about three weeks after the attack and her husband was badly hurt.
