1 dead, 5 injured in drive-by shooting near DeKalb County smoke shop

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Five people are hospitalized and one person is dead after a drive-by shooting near a DeKalb County smoke shop.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, as many as 30 shots were fired into a crowd of people outside a smoke shop on Redan Rd.

Five people were taken to the hospital, where one man died. Police identified him as Earl Adams, 60. The other five victims are in serious condition but stable.

Police say an unknown car was driving south on South Hairston Rd. when a gunman began shooting out of the car, injuring five men and one woman.

No other information has been released on the identities of these victims.

Police do not have a description of the car or the suspect at this time.

This shooting marks one of more than a dozen shootings in the metro Atlanta area over the weekend.
