RUSKIN, FL. – A 38-year-old Tampa man was killed in a crash Saturday when another driver tried to pass him and instead crashed into him, forcing the man off the road and into a power pole.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 6:45 pm Saturday, a 41-year-old Tampa man driving south on U.S. 41 attempted to pass the other vehicle in the inside lane. The driver’s left-front end struck the right rear of the victim’s vehicle.

Troopers say when the driver crashed into the car, the man to the west shoulder and over-corrected,
causing his car to travel back across the southbound lanes, the center grass median, and overturn and finally stopped in the northbound lanes.

The second car, driven by the 39-year-old Tampa man, departed the roadway, entered the west shoulder, collided with a power pole, and overturned.

The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
