As the weather starts to warm up and the city starts reopening, the nightlife in Chicago is starting to revive itself. Each weekend there seems to be more and more people walking through the streets of the city and bars and clubs have started to become more packed than ever. Many times, these weekends are the first time people are going out again in over a year. Despite the reopening of the city and vaccines being deployed, please take the utmost caution when gathering in busy areas.

With that being said, there is no better time than the present to enjoy and adventure in some of the best speakeasy bars that Chicago has to offer. These speakeasies are all very mesmerizing and all have their own unique appeal and provide an experience that can not be found anywhere else. Here are five of the best speakeasy bars in Chicago.

1. Three Dots and a Dash

Three Dots and a Dash is arguably the most well known of all the themed bars in Chicago and boasts a wonderfully warm and tropical tiki bar establishment that offers some of the most fun cocktails in the area. This bar is found conveniently right in the heart of River North and has won many awards over the years such as being named as one of the top 50 bars in the entire world by famous mixology professional, Kevin Beary. There are many different experiences to be had within Three Dots and a Dash and one of their most recent creations is their Bamboo Room where visitors can test out a wide assortment of expertly curated rums.

2. Milk Room

The Milk Room can be found right inside the Chicago Athletic Association building and is quite the compact establishment seating a maximum of eight patrons and is most well known for their top shelf ingredients and rare items. All of the drinks found here are very spirit forward and definitely can be a great start to an even better night.

3. Chicago Magic Lounge

The Chicago Magic Lounge is exactly what it sounds like. It is a fun speakeasy where you can not only enjoy a few drinks in a nice ambiance but also get the experience of an entire magic show. The Chicago Magic Lounge is found right on Clark Street and houses an unexpectedly large performance area right behind some quite normal washing machines.

4. Bordel

Bordel is a speakeasy that embraces the entirety of what a speakeasy entails. The establishment features many cocktails reminiscent of the Prohibition era and is filled with a warmth that creates a very comfortable space to enjoy a few drinks and the various burlesque shows that are often times the spotlight of the bar. This speakeasy will offer a truly authentic experience every time and can be found hidden within a Spanish restaurant called Black Bull.

5. Dead Plants

Dead Plants has not just an intriguing name but also various live music performances all hidden within The Press Room. The live music performances occur once a month during the Saturday of the second week of the month. The tickets are reasonably priced also include one drink per person. For those that want to experience this, grab tickets as soon as possible as each show only has twenty six tickets and will go quickly.
