Columbus Police spent the first 4 nights of the protests downtown in June 2020, tear gassing, pepper spraying and shooting wooden bullets at protesters who show no ill intention. Peaceful protester are being attacked and terrorized by their own police force who, supposedly, are sword to serve and protect their communityThe mainstream media seems to be obsessed with only covering the small percentage of people who are destroying property in an effort to discredit this incredibly important movement. The protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis sparked such intense emotions in everyone who saw the video of his attack and subsequent death.

Thousands took to the streets to protest police brutality and racial inequality. It was quite a surprise to everyone in Columbus, Oh how Columbus Police Department chose to react to people trying to fight for justice and reform the system oppressing them.

Columbus Police donned full riot gear and indiscriminately sprayed pepper spray and deployed tear gas into the crowd of peaceful protesters with no retaliation or consequences for their actions. Their unfeeling brutality went so far as to pepper spray a Congresswoman for trying to deescalate a situation between police and protesters.

Without warning or provocation, Columbus Police seem determined to terrorize and abuse peaceful protesters any time they’d like. Before curfew and with no warning, Columbus Police shot wooden bullets and deployed tear gas into a crowd of protesters exercising their First Amendment rights.

If this doesn’t demand reform, nothing does.
