The sentences will run consecutively.

Serial killing “Angel of Death” Rita Mays was sentenced today on seven counts of murder and one count of assault all against veterans at the Louis A. Johnson Hospital in Clarksburg, WV here Mays was employed as a nurse.

Mays killed seven of her patients and assaulted an eighth using insulin in their IVs. This equaled a very painful death from hypoglycemia.

Mays offered no indication of motive as she tearfully addressed the court in the way a sociopathic crocodile might. The author has argued in a previous piece here at Newsbreak that she definitely fits the “Angel of Death” profile which could mean any of several possible motives including the straight sadistic, the God or savior complex, the otherwise delusional, the sexual (see Jane Toppan as an example), and the financial (see Doctor Linda Hazzard).

So, telling Mays’s motive would be impossible unless she decided to offer some insight. None of that really matters though. What we should never, ever forget are the victims of this monster, their lives and their service to our country.

Journalist and dogged student of all things forensic, Wess Haubrich, examines the nitty, gritty details you didn’t know about famous (and not so famous but equally weird) crimes and their unseen motivations. Thanks for reading!
