Derek Anderson received a 120-day suspension from the Mohegan Sun Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation for falsifying pre-fight medical forms, USA Today reported Monday.
On Sunday, two days after losing to Michael Page at Bellator 258, Anderson revealed in an Instagram post that he went to the hospital four times due to kidney failure during his training camp.
“Thank you @bellatormma @therealscottcoker Love to be back ASAP but went to the hospital 4 times as I was having kidney failure my whole camp and could hardly train,” Anderson’s post read, in part. “I wanted to make this fight happen. I’ll be back after a short vacation to recover and now I have some new wounds to lick.”
The head of the department of athletic regulation, Mike Mazzulli, told USA Today that Anderson did not reveal his kidney issues on Mohegan’s pre-fight questionnaire, on which fighters must disclose whether they have any medical issues or injuries that would hamper their ability to compete.
Anderson’s camp has not commented on the reported suspension.
Anderson lost his bout with Page via TKO on Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., when Page broke his nose with a kick to the face. The loss dropped him to 17-4 for his career.
