The weather is getting warmer and you know what that means. Ice cream is by far one of the best ways to beat the heat. And let's be honest, even if the Akron area weather is a bit wild (say snow in May), you still want ice cream, right? Here are the top 3 locations to pick up some ice cream in Rubber City.

Chill Ice Cream Co. was founded by three Northeast Ohio Brothers with a clear passion for ice cream. Their goal was take Ohio by Storm, one legendary flavor at a time. Chill offers only the finest ice cream to satisfy the palates of adults as well as children alike. There are several Chill locations, including one in downtown Akron right across from Lock 3.

However, it is important to note that Chill features more than ice cream. For example, you can pickup a delicious slice of frozen chocolate dipped New York style cheesecake. You can also get your hands on an ice cream cookie sandwiches are made with homemade chocolate chip cookies or real Oreo cookies Chill's very own artisan ice cream.

Back in 1945, Alice Handel started serving ice cream out of her husband's gas station in Youngstown, Ohio. The first batches she created were from old fashioned recipes using fresh fruit she picked from her own backyard. Since then, Handel’s has grown to include locations in eight states including Ohio, Oregon, California and more.

You can pick up hand-packed quarts and pints from over 50 delicious flavors of our homemade ice cream. If you'd like something different, try Handel Pops. This treat features a generous scoop of Handel’s homemade ice cream covered in our rich, dark, gourmet chocolate served on a stick. Handel’s serves four flavors on their Handel Pops at all times: vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip and a special flavor of the month.

Stow Cone offers a large assortment of ice cream from simplicity of the vanilla soft-serve to the amazing flavors and toppings featured in the Chocolate Volcano.
