The Detroit Tigers placed catcher Wilson Ramos on the 10-day injured list and designated right-hander Buck Farmer for assignment on Friday.

Ramos, a two-time All-Star, departed Thursday’s game against the Boston Red Sox with a lumbar strain in his lower back.

Detroit also recalled catcher Jake Rogers from Triple-A Toledo and selected the contract of right-hander Erasmo Ramirez.

Ramos, 33, is batting .227 with six homers and 11 RBIs in 29 games in his first season with the Tigers. He has a .273 career mark with 134 homers and 525 RBIs in 975 games with the Minnesota Twins (2010), Washington Nationals (2010-16), Tampa Bay Rays (2017-18), Philadelphia Phillies (2018) and New York Mets (2019-20).

The 30-year-old Farmer was rocked for a 12.66 ERA in 12 relief appearances this season. He has served up six homers in just 10 2/3 innings while allowing 15 runs and 15 hits.

Overall, Farmer is 15-21 with a 5.47 ERA in 217 appearances (21 starts) in eight big-league seasons, all with the Tigers.

Rogers’ only previous big-league stint came in 2019 when he batted .125 with four homers and eight RBIs in 112 at-bats over 35 games. The 26-year-old will serve as the backup to Grayson Greiner (.219, one homer) while Ramos is sidelined.

Ramirez, 31, is 32-39 with a 4.31 ERA in 199 appearances (92 starts) with the Seattle Mariners (2012-14, 2017-18), Tampa Bay Rays (2015-17), Boston Red Sox (2019) and New York Mets (2020). He was a career-best 11-6 for the Rays in 2015.
