The Masked Dancer: New judge Oti Mabuse is left clueless over a star's identity as she joins Davina McCall in first trailer for 'mad' ITV spin-off

The first teaser clip for The Masked Dancer was revealed on Friday.

And Oti Mabuse was seen making her debut on the judging panel for the ITV spin-off after she replaced Rita Ora, and stars alongside Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan. 

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 30, looked sensational in an array of ensembles including a gorgeous, plunging bronze gown.

In the teaser clip, Oti joked that she didn't 'know what I've signed up for now' as stars made their way to the stage in their elaborate costumes.

Celebrities will don an array of funny costumes including a scarecrow, a frog and even a beetroot, to name a few when the show hits screens this month for one week, with new episodes airing every night.

Twelve famous faces will take to the stage dressed as extravagant alter egos that will also include a zip, a carwash, a beagle, a squirrel, a viper, a rubber chicken, a flamingo, a knickerbocker glory and a llama.

Host Joel Dommett also discussed the show's concept with the audience in the clip, saying he called the show 'who's who in a tutu?'

He went on to say it was 'the show that is unlike anything you've seen before, apart from The Masked Singer, its quite a lot like that.'

As the hidden celebrities showed off their moves, Jonathan joked that he was 'actually a very, very good dancer' while Mo claimed 'this concept is mad.'

When Oti was asked who she thought one contestant could be, she admitted she 'didn't know' before suggesting Robbie Williams.

Other amusing suggestions came, including Davina who claimed she thought one dancer was Carol Vorderman, Jonathan pitching Elton John as a candidate, and Mo naming Shania Twain.  

From the flamingo's fluffy pink dress adorned with hundred of faux feathers to a bright red, sequin adorned beetroot, the spin-off show's attention to detail is typically impressive.

Each fantastical costume is constructed with choreography in mind, and provides each dancer with plenty of limb freedom.

Once in their costumes, celebrities will perform an array of dance styles, from ballet to ballroom, salsa to swing and everything in between.

The Masked Dancer will see 12 celebrity contestants perform unique dances, whilst covered from head to toe in extravagant, colourful costumes and masks, leaving the viewers and star panel to guess their identities.  

Oti joined the show in March after it was confirmed that Rita would not appear on the show, despite being a judge on The Masked Singer - on which the show is based.

Speaking about joining the show, two-time Strictly champion Oti, who was previously a judge on the now-defunct The Greatest Dancer, said: 'I'm so thrilled and honoured to be joining the panel on The Masked Dancer.

'I'm a huge fan of The Masked Singer and I loved the US Masked Dancer so I just can't wait to start on this show. As a dancer I will be watching the dancers intently looking for clues - it's going to be so much fun!!!'

Joss Stone was crowned the champion of The Masked Singer 2021, after she bamboozled the judges as Sausage.

She was so good, in fact, that panellists Jonathan, Davina, Mo and Rita failed to correctly guess her identity before she took off her mask. 

Prior to her unmasking as Sausage, Badger was revealed as singer Ne-Yo, who finished in second place, while Robin was unmasked as JLS star Aston Merrygold, who came third in the finale. 

Fans of the show initially believed Sausage could be actress Sheridan Smith or Loose Women star Stacey Solomon, up until the character's true identity was revealed. 

Host Joel Dommett pointed out that Joss was heavily pregnant at the time of filming - she welcomed her first child, a daughter named Violet Melissa, with American musician boyfriend Cody DaLuz in February.
