Spend Mother's Day 2021 in Tucson: Open Air Events
Sunday is Mother's Day! It's already here and for those of you who are still looking for a unique event to take Mom to, look no further. I rounded up a few great events happening around the Greater Tucson area to treat yourself and Mom to a nice day outside. Don't forget the SPF and some cool clothing, as the day is slated to hit the 90's. Bring plenty of water or cash for food and drinks. It's sure to be a great day with Mom and family.
I don't know about you but my Mom loves vintage finds. From furniture, knick-knacks, clothing, and beyond, if it is old, she will probably love it. Take her out to the 2nd Sunday Vintage Market, held on the West side of the Tucson Mall. Found right off of Oracle and River Rd, this market is once a month on the second Sunday, which just happens to fall on Mother's day this year!
Check out the Market's Instagram page to get an idea of some of the awesome treasures you and Mom can find this Sunday. It's dog friendly, so bring along the furry family members too (just make sure their paws don't get scorched!). They have fun vintage art prints, furniture to outfit your urban farmhouse, vinyl records, adorable decor, and plenty more offered by the vendors. Bring cash, just to be safe. Some vendors do take cards.
What's better than wine? Wine AND donuts. Grab tickets to the Mother's Day wine tasting at this Sonoita vineyard and brewery. They have partnered with local bakery Amy's Donuts to pair six wines with six donut holes. You also get a souvenir glass and mimosas while you're there. Tickets are $25 a person for this fabulous event. Check out the vineyard's website to get more information on the tasting events they hold regularly. Pets on leashes are welcome! The event takes place outside on the gorgeous patio with views for days.
The Tucson Celtic Festival is putting on a fundraiser by offering High Tea for mothers and daughters on Saturday, May 8th. Book soon as the tickets are limited for this fun, fancy event. The event is being held at the Northminster Presbyterian Church on Fort Lowell Rd. Guests will be served high tea with miniature salads, scones, and other traditional tea-time foods. So dress your best and sip some tea with the ladies for this one!
For those of you with little ones at home, perhaps an outing isn't exactly the thing you want to do. If you'd rather spend the day at home relaxing and doing activities with your family, check out this fun event from the Museum of Miniatures. They are selling $7 miniature kits that you can build at home. Once you pick one up, you'll get a link to a Zoom demonstration on how to assemble the kit. It's a great craft to work together on with your kids. If you both enjoy this activity, sign up for the monthly miniature crafting sessions! The Museum has plenty more to explore.
If you want to get your zen on with Mom, head to YogaOasis on Saturday, May 8th at 10 am. This is held at the Playground Bar & Lounge on their rooftop patio area. Pre-register on this site to secure your spot. Tickets are $10 per person. You do need to bring a mask and yoga mat, but you don't necessarily need to wear the mask while you're working out. It is outside after all. If you love it, they offer these classes three days a week, with Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 6 pm, perfect for an after work flow.
Sometimes the best memories are made by trying something new together. Take Mom out to try something new, and your relationship is bound to grow. #happymothersday
