By: Jessica Shorten
NEW CANEY, TX – Habitat for Humanity, Montgomery County is looking for individuals in need of a new home or home repairs in their first ever in-person “home fair” on May 15th.
In an effort to reach families truly in need, Habitat for Humanity is hosting a one-day fair at two locations from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th to allow individuals an opportunity to ask questions and get real answers. Trained Habitat MCTX volunteers will be at each location to go over eligibility, qualifications, and the process for completing a new home or repairs.
No appointments will be necessary to stop by either of these two locations:
East Montgomery County Senior Center
21679 McCleskey Rd., New Caney, TX 77357
Sleepy Hollow Multi-Purpose Building
9845 Sleepy Hollow Rd., Conroe, TX 77385
Individuals and families must begin the application online at https://bit.ly/3mpmPgv, and bring a copy of the application to the fair locations. Families must also bring clear copies of the following documents to the fair so volunteers can verify eligibility and continue the application process:
- 2019 and 2020 W-2’s
- 2019 and 2020 Tax Transcripts
- Last three paystubs from current employer(s)
- A copy of your 2021 Social Security/SSI award letter (if you receive these funds)
The fair is being hosted through a partnership between Habitat for Humanity MCTX, Children’s Books on Wheels, and the Precinct 4 Commissioner’s Office. Through this community effort, Habitat MCTX is hoping to reach lower-income families who need home ownership/repair assistance the most.
All COVID-19 protocols will be followed at the in-person fair locations; including mask wearing.
