Harvey Elliott can't wait to play with Liverpool's "clone of Steven Gerrard" next season
With just one game remaining of his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers, Harvey Elliott can't wait to get back to Liverpool for next season.
The teenager has developed impressively during his campaign on loan at Ewood Park, and he's got his eye on earning a place in Jurgen Klopp's plans as one of the additions to his striking armoury in 2021/22.
But it isn't necessarily the other forwards that Elliott is most looking forward to lining up with.
Speaking to the Counter Attack podcast, Elliott heaped praise on the Reds skipper Jordan Henderson, whose leadership skills he thinks are up there with the very best.
“I don’t think anyone appreciates him as much as they should. Henderson is a legend on and off of the pitch, I can’t say enough nice things about him. He’s just a top captain," said Elliott.
“He’s everything you’d want in a captain, he’s a leader on the pitch, he’s a leader off the pitch.
"He doesn’t do it for a reaction, he does it because he wants to do it, he wants to have an effect on things, he wants to put things in line and show that everyone is on the same page and just bring people up with him.
“Like everyone else, ever since I walked through the door at Liverpool, he greeted me well.
"He’s always taken me under his wing, he’s always onto me working hard in training, always wanting me to be the best possible version of myself. I can’t say enough about him and enough nice things.
“He’s someone I look up to a lot, obviously him and Steven Gerrard as well, he’s like a clone of Steven Gerrard really, he’s just a legend.”
