Pedestrian hit and killed by train in Monroe

MONROE, Wash. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Monroe Friday morning.

Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue firefighters were dispatched to the scene east of the Main Street railroad crossing at 6:13 a.m. They found the victim was dead at the scene.

The 179th and Fryelands Blvd railroad crossings are open to access downtown Monroe.

The train is blocking the East Main St, North Lewis St, & North Kelsey St crossings.

At 6:45 a.m., firefighters said the train is expected to be blocking the other crossings for a few hours while authorities investigate.
