Chick-fil-A in Florence, KY - Is It Worth It?

I'll be honest; I used to be obsessed with Chick-fil-A when I first moved out here in July 2020. I had never had it before and loved their waffle-cut fries, crispy chicken, and lemonade. My favorite sauces are their namesake sauce and the spicy sriracha. I would get Chick-fil-A once or twice nearly every week.

Chick-fil-A is one of the more expensive fried chicken options out there, with a 5-piece nugget kids meal with fries and a lemonade costing $5.40. It's a new menu item my partner accidentally ordered me, but it's good for a comparison price. It was enough food for an adult as a snack, but not a full meal.

It's worth noting that Chick-fil-A nuggets are quite small, around the size of two tater tots smushed together. Is that a good size visual? It'll have to do. For the amount of chicken and extras you receive for your money, you can do much better at Cane's and Lee's, both great local fried chicken chain options.

Why Chick-fil-A is obsolete for us nowadays

We don't frequently eat at Chick-fil-A anymore. I went today for the purpose of this article, but we haven't been in over two months. The main reason is that Chick-fil-A came out with bottles of their sauces. These are huge bottles, just like buying ketchup at the grocery store. As we live in Kentucky, we are able to purchase the sauce at our local Kroger.

We can also buy copious amounts of frozen Kroger brand chicken nuggets to keep at home, cook, and have with sauce whenever we get the craving. This saves us a ton of money and those bottles last for months. I'm curious if this move has made Chick-fil-A money overall or lost them money because of people like us who use store-bought chicken with their sauces now instead of ever visiting the drive-thru.

Mall Road Chick-fil-A Construction

Another reason we hopped so readily on the bottled sauce train is that our local Chick-fil-A on Mall Road had been re-doing their drive-thru. Construction took a few weeks and their drive-thru line was completely empty at points, which is super surprising if you've ever been to or driven past a Chick-fil-A. We didn't want to get caught in the construction.

As of April 29th when this article was written, the construction appears to be all done. The equipment is gone, the drive-thru has been re-routed, and a new drive-thru entrance has been fully paved. It is a very smooth drive and should help with parking lot congestion when the line spills out in every direction during rush hour.

Final Thoughts

If Chick-fil-A has always been slightly outside of your price range, their new sauce line and some frozen chicken can help you enjoy it. Their chicken is great but easily replaced, in my opinion. The sauce is harder to come by, and it does sell out, so grab it if you see it. The staff at the Mall Road Chick-fil-A location are really nice, so if you're going to eat out, we recommend going there. It was my pleasure to write this article.
