'He IS Australia's 2021 MasterChef!' Viewers go wild as Yotam Ottolenghi makes a special appearance from London as a life-size 'hologram' for superstars week

MasterChef's superstar week continued on Monday night, with a special zoom appearance from legendary chef Yotam Ottolenghi.

And just like with Nigella Lawson's seductive appearance on Sunday, fans went absolutely wild as the Israeli-British cook graced the studios with his presence - despite being thousands of kilometres away in London.

The 52-year-old appeared on the show to challenge contestants to make a three course meal to his standard, appearing via a life-size LED screen 'hologram' due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

And as soon as he came on-screen, viewers couldn't help but comment in excitement - with one writing: 'YOTAM’S DESSERT NEEDS TO GET IN MY BELLY RIGHT NOW, YOU HEAR ME.'

'I wasn't actually familiar with Yotam Ottolenghi before he appeared on MasterChef, but now I look forward to seeing him every time he comes on,' another gushed.

Others were left in hysterics after the chef crafted his own three course meal alone - which he completed with five minutes to spare - while the teams were scrambling to get theirs finished.

'"Yotam will now taste the dishes and declare a winner. He can only taste his own dish so he wins. You're all going home. He is Australias 2021 MasterChef!"' one jested.

Another laughed: 'How the hell is Yotam (1 person) finished his whole 3 course meal 5 min before time and these whole groups of people are struggling?!'

'Yotam is literally just flexing because there was no reason for him to cook and I love that,' a second wrote. 

It comes after Nigella caused quite the stir during her own appearance on Sunday night.

While the 61-year-old appeared on the show to challenge the contestants, viewers were left mesmerised by her soothing voice and her 'delicious' delivery of instructions - even over a live stream from London.

Trent Vu, who was the first to be eliminated from the show, cheekily wrote: 'I’d 100% go straight for Nigella #MasterChefAU.'

'God I love Nigella Lawson as a cook, writer and lover of food. I would be utterly devastated to be a contestant this year and to miss meeting her in person. Queen,' another added.

'Hologram Nigella is still hot,' another viewer chimed in, while a sixth gushed: 'Can I get a virtual @Nigella_Lawson in my kitchen please? Just applauding me exuberantly when I make spag bol?'
