Chuck Schumer has mocked Larry Kudlow’s claim that Americans will be drinking plant-based beer under Joe Biden’s administration while watching the Oscars.

On Sunday, Schumer tuned in to the Academy Awards, sharing a photo of himself closely watching the TV screen with a beer in his hand on Twitter.

In the caption, he wrote: “Excited to be watching the Oscars with an ice cold plant-based beer. Thanks Joe Biden.”

The tweet was a reference to Kudlow’s recent suggestion on Fox Business Network that President Biden will force US citizens to drink “plant-based beer,” a claim that the former Director of the National Economic Council made while discussing the president’s new climate plan.

“Speaking of stupid, there’s a study coming out of the University of Michigan which says that to meet the Biden Green New Deal targets, America has to, get this, America has to stop eating meat, stop eating poultry and fish, seafood, eggs, dairy, and animal-based fats. Ok, got that? No burger on July 4. No steaks on the barbecue. I’m sure Middle America is just going to love that. Can you grill those Brussels sprouts? So get ready. You can throw back a plant-based beer with your grilled Brussels sprouts and wave your American flag. Call it July 4th Green,” Kudlow had told Fox Business viewers.

On Twitter, Schumer’s post was met with approval from his followers, who applauded the subtle dig at Kudlow.

“When your favorite Dad-joking Senator throws Dad Shade,” one person tweeted, while another said: “It’s really easy to dunk on Larry Kudlow, but this still gets high marks for execution.”

While Schumer received the reaction he was looking for from some of his followers, others were more distracted by the picture itself, which showed the Senate Majority Leader sitting extremely close to his TV.

“Why are you so close to the TV man?” one person asked.

Another said: “That might be the most uncomfortable TV watching chair placement I’ve ever seen and I’ve watched Thanksgiving football with over 20 family members in one room.”

“I love relaxing on a hard dining room chair to watch a three and a half hour show at a 45 degree angle,” someone else tweeted.
