This summer, you need to spend some time in Riverfront Park in Spokane, Washington.

Growing up in the area, I remember how the park looked before. And while it was nice to walk through and had lots of green space, it is now a place to GO to and enjoy activities and ways to connect to the city and culture of Spokane which is developing into a place to be.

Now, I get it, most people who live here may not want to go down to the park most days. Maybe it feels like more of a touristy thing to do now. But after a year of Covid-19, being stuck at home, and not getting to enjoy the other beautiful things about Spokane, it might be worth getting out to Riverfront Park.

In fact, I want to give you five reasons to check out Riverfront Park this summer and hopefully, you will see why it will be worth your time and create some fun memories for you and your family.

5 Reasons To Go To Riverfront Park This Summer

There are probably a lot of other reasons to check out Riverfront Park this summer, but I am convinced that these five that I will share below will help give you plenty to do when you decide to check out the park and get out of the house for a few hours each weekend.

1-Sightseeing and Sculptures

There are a ton of things to see in the park anymore. Sure there are traditional things like the Clock Tower, the Big Red Wagon, and the Rotary Fountain. However, there are tons of sculptures that are spread throughout the park. And, you can even do a self-guided tour of all of them.

2-Attractions

There are some really neat attractions to enjoy in the park as well. My family's favorite right now is the Numerica Skyride. It takes you down over the Spokane Falls. My daughters love it and hate it at the same time. But every time we go down to the park they want to ride it. You should also check out the Loof Carrousel and the Providence Playscape.

3-Community Events

There are always lots of community events going on down in the park. Now, some of them still have restrictions, but it is great to get out and support local businesses on market days and check out some of the programs the city has to help with fitness and general health.

4-Just Go For A Walk

One of the things we do a lot of us simply go down for a walk. There are paths all throughout the park that you can walk by the river, the falls, and all of the sights and attractions. It is great exercise, nice to be in the sunshine, and helps us connect more to the history of the city this way too.

5-Coffee and Quiet

One of my wife and I's favorite things to do is to grab some Indaba Coffee, which is one of my five favorite places in Spokane, and go into the park to sit down on a bench and relax in the quiet. We enjoy some light conversation and time together without the kids. It is a nice little reprieve.

Final Thoughts

The Riverfront Park is a great place to spend some time this summer. With all of the great things to see and do, plus some quiet places to relax and play, it is worth your time to head downtown this summer. Also, we all could use a little more fresh air, sunshine, and time in our beautiful city.
