Colin Fassnidge confirms a long-standing controversial rumour about celebrity chef Pete Evans

Reports swirled that Pete Evans was dumped from I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in November, after he posted a neo-Nazi meme on Facebook.

And on Friday, Colin Fassnidge, 45, confirmed that he did in fact replace Pete on the 2021 reality show.

The celebrity chef told The Kyle and Jackie O Show that Channel Ten executives approached him to star on the program, following Pete's axing from the show.

'Were you always meant to go in?' Jackie asked. 'There were rumours that Pete Evans was going in and then they gave him the flick.'

Colin responded: 'So, I got asked six weeks before, and the money wasn't very good. And then my missus was like, "You're not leaving me for this amount of time".'

'And then obviously Pete got hired, and then Pete got un-hired… and they said, "Can you come tomorrow?"' he continued.

There you have it: When asked directly by co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson whether he replaced Pete (pictured centre) on the show, Colin, 45, responded: 'So, I got asked six weeks before, and the money wasn't very good.' Pictured also on the left is Manu Feildel

'And then you got a bit more coin,' Jackie quipped.

Pete, 48, faced significant backlash after sharing the neo-Nazi meme on Facebook in November last year.

The post was a cartoon of a caterpillar wearing a MAGA cap and a butterfly with the neo-Nazi Black Sun emblem on its wing - with the suggestion being that neo-Nazism is the natural evolution for Donald Trump supporters.

The Black Sun symbol became infamous after it was introduced by top-ranking Nazi Heinrich Himmler during World War II. The symbol has since been adopted by numerous neo-Nazi groups, and by Christchurch mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant.

Following the post, he was dropped by 15 sponsors and companies in just two days.

Channel Ten confirmed Pete Evans would not be appearing on the show in an official statement, however they did not reference whether he was replaced or the Neo-Nazi meme.
