Rebekah Vardy takes fresh swipe at Coleen Rooney giving her just 24 hours to reply in final Wagatha Christie battle
REBEKAH Vardy has taken a fresh swipe at Coleen Rooney as their Wagatha Christie battle finally draws to a close.
Rebekah, 39, is reportedly working to have a section of evidence from Coleen’s case “struck out” - and left Coleen just 24 hours to respond.
With just days to go until an expensive court battle, Rebekah is attempting to have a section known as ‘TV Details story’ removed from Coleen’s case, MailOnline reports.
The section relates to a story that Coleen claims was leaked by Rekebah in September 2019.
Coleen alleges that she had blocked all of her followers from accessing her Instagram stories that month, when she posted a selfie alongside a caption reading: “Up and out!! Easing my way back into work!!"
She added: “TV decisions today… maybe it's time for Australia" and "Good Day" with a heart emoji.
Coleen’s defence document claims that this inferred that Rebekah was the source of a story that later appeared in The Sun - but this is rejected by Rebekah’s lawyers.
Now, Rebekah's legal team have argued for the passage to be struck out of Coleen's defence in the latest twist in the 18-month saga.
According to the Mail, Coleen now has until 4.30pm on Friday to present evidence to oppose the striking out.
Rebekah will then be able to serve a reply to the evidence brought by Coleen.
In October 2019, Coleen accused fellow WAG Becky of leaking information about her.
In a social media post, Coleen said she set a trap to see who was leaking stories from her private Instagram page.
She famously ended her statement with the line: “It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
Dancing on Ice star Becky denies the accusations and is suing Coleen for damages for libel.
In January, the High Court ruled the post "clearly" identified Becky as "being guilty of the serious and consistent breach of trust" Coleen alleges.
Last June, Becky sued Coleen after claiming she “suffered extreme distress, hurt, anxiety and embarrassment as a result of the publication of the post and the events which followed.”
In November a preliminary High Court hearing on the meaning behind the post ruled in her favour.
Last month, The Sun reported that Coleen or Becky could be hit with a legal bill of more than £2million following the court case.
