Southern California’s Isaiah Mobley declares for NBA draft

Southern California sophomore forward Isaiah Mobley announced Saturday that he is declaring for the NBA draft.

Unlike his younger brother Evan, who declared Friday, Isaiah Mobley is leaving open the possibility of returning to the Trojans.

“After taking time to explore all options with my family, I’ve decided to enter my name in the 2021 NBA Draft while maintaining my eligibility to play for the Trojans,” Isaiah Mobley said in his announcement. “I look forward to gathering feedback during this process as I continue to work toward my dream of playing in the NBA.”

Isaiah Mobley averaged 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds in 32 games this season. He was particularly effective in the NCAA Tournament as he averaged 16 points on 61-percent shooting in four games. The Trojans were eliminated by Gonzaga in the Elite Eight.

Evan Mobley, a freshman center, is expected to be one of the first three players selected in the draft. He was Pac-12 Player of the Year this season while averaging 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 33 games.
