Unforgotten's Sanjeev Bhaskar admits he feels 'envious' of Line Of Duty detectives because they have 'much nicer cars' than his ITV character and are 'allowed guns'

Sanjeev Bhaskar has admitted feeling 'some envy' when watching Line of Duty because the show's detectives have 'nicer cars' and 'are allowed guns'.

The actor, 57. who plays DI Sunny Khan on ITV's popular cold case show, discussed his love of the series when speaking on Obsessed With Line of Duty's podcast, revealing: 'Having played a detective, I always watch Line of Duty with some envy.'

He told former AC-12 actor Craig Parkinson: 'You've got much nicer cars than we do, much flashier, you drive them quicker than we do. You are allowed to have guns, we are not.'

Sanjeev also commented on the hit BBC show's offices, saying: 'Your offices are really spick. The glass box thing is great for drama. To have that viewpoint outside the glass box is brilliant and we don't.'

He reiterated: 'So there is a certain amount of envy.'

Sanjeev also shared he's a huge fan of the show, saying he's just as gripped by the sixth series as the rest of the nation.

'You certainly sit there trying to put the clues together,' the actor continued.

'What's interesting with this series, I along with most of the nation, the moment a missing freezer was mentioned in unison we went "Laverty" and that's how embedded the series has become.'

He added: 'But also particularly with Line of Duty I think you have to view it as there is nothing wasted. Every shot of someone's reaction means something.'

It comes after Sanjeev revealed that he too had paused Sunday's night's enthralling episode, in which forensic officers discovered the DNA of DCI Jo Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald) matched someone's on the police data base.

The nail-biting moment prompted Ted Hastings (played by Adrian Dunbar) to exclaim 'Mother of God' when Steve Arnott (played by Martin Compston) revealed the news.

The gripping conclusion led many viewers to rewind the moment and pause the scene in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the name on the document Arnott handed to Hastings.

Reacting to the cliffhanger on Twitter, Sanjeev wrote on Sunday: 'I wonder quite how many people freeze framed the telly on that folder and then thought 'OMG Jo Davidson is linked by DNA to.... Jo Davidson? Arrrggh.'

Meanwhile, a major Line Of Duty spoiler was leaked on Tuesday night by one of the BBC's websites.

BBC Maestro inadvertently uploaded a post revealing a brand new character and a key plot twist, which is thought to transpire in the forthcoming next episode of the current season.

The website - which is a hub for budding screenwriters - shared a photo of the new character on a database.

Steve Arnott was seen scrutinizing the image.

A scene featuring the character was even shown, before it was removed.

The Sun contacted creator and writer of Line Of Duty Jed Mercurio, who told them: 'The outstanding detective work of eagle-eyed Line Of Duty fans has been awarded a glowing commendation from the gaffer himself, Supt Ted Hastings. Their call-up papers for AC-12 are in the post!'

This jovial response to the incident suggests the leak was nothing too drastic.
