COVID-19 update: Florida reports more than 7,000 new cases, 64 more deaths

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported an additional 7,121 Coronavirus cases in the state Friday, a drop from the nearly 8,000 cases reported the previous day.

The state reported 86 more coronavirus-related deaths Friday for a total of 34,562 since the pandemic began.

According to the most recent data from the Department of Health, nearly 6 million Floridians have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

In Central Florida, Orange County led all others with more than 500 news cases. No other county reported more than 200.

Coronavirus vaccine clinics in some states across the country briefly stopped using the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after a small group of patients reported having reactions ranging from dizziness to nausea.

Pfizer has filed a request with the Food and Drug Administration to update its emergency use authorization to allow it to be used on children between the ages of 12 and 15.

It’s currently only allowed to be used by anyone age 16 and older.
