Sean Spicer was interviewed on mute and made more sense than ever

You may remember Sean Spicer as being front in center on January 21, 2017, in an ill-fitting suit, to address the press with brazen claims that former President Donald Trump garnered “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration-period-both in person and around the globe.”

Yeah, sure.

Since then he’s penned books, danced with the stars, hosted a political talk show on hard-right conspiracy network Newsmax, and generally worked that media profile as hard as he could.

In other words, he’s not a man who’s easily silenced.

That is, until today.

On Thursday, in an appearance on Newsmax, Spicer was muted on air for more than a minute after a technological glitch.

His mouth was moving, but no words could be heard as he previewed his upcoming Spicer & Co program on host Chris Salcedo’s show.

There’s a philosophical question in there somewhere: If Sean Spicer speaks on a cable channel and no-one can actual hear it, did he actually lie?

It seemed as if Salcedo could hear Spicer throughout the 90-second discussion, but the viewers couldn’t. Some believed it was the most eloquent Spicer had ever been. Others speculated that Salcedo is the world’s best lip-reader.

Another Twitter user thought it was an April Fool’s Day joke, but Spicer hasn’t commented on the matter to indicate that it was.
