Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduces bills to cut Fauci's salary to zero, ban vaccine passports

(WASHINGTON) Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced two bills on Thursday to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci's salary and ban vaccine passports, according to The Hill.

Greene's "Fire Fauci Act" would place Fauci's annual salary to zero — which would be unlikely to even be cut if passed — while the "We Will Not Comply Act" would ban documents certifying qualified Americans have been vaccinated by prohibiting businesses engaged in interstate commerce from using them to allow patrons to access their services.

Neither of the freshman Georgia representative's bills are expected to pass the Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

Greene, who has faced controversy for past conspiratorial remarks and was removed by her committee assignments, has publicly criticized Fauci and her criticism of public health guidelines. 

However, she is not alone in her condemnation of vaccine passports.

The Hill reports a number of GOP governors "have railed" against vaccine passports that could be granted to access buildings or events. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis urged his state’s GOP-controlled legislature to pass a law forbidding the passports calling the idea "completely unacceptable."

"It's completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society," he said at a press conference Monday.
