'I never thought something like this would happen': Ola Jordan reveals her baby daughter Ella has never met her parents or another child amid Covid lockdown

Ola Jordan has revealed her daughter Ella, 12 months, has still never met her parents or another child amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 38, welcomed her daughter with husband James Jordan, 42, just as the country was going into its first lockdown last year.

Speaking to The Sun, Ola told how her parents, who live in Poland, have been forced to communicate with their granddaughter solely through FaceTime.  

She said: 'It's unbelievable to think my mum and dad haven't met my baby girl. It was my hope that my mum would be there to help give me tips with my first baby.

'We talk on the phone - and thank God we have Facetime - but not being able to have my parents around me when you have a little baby is really quite tough.

'I never, ever thought something like this would happen. My dad gets upset every time he sees her over the phone. He sobs "when am I going to hold her?"'

Ola said she hopes this will be the last Mother's Day she will have to spend away from her own mum Janina.

The TV star added that it's 'scary' to think that by the time her parents get to meet Ella in person, she will be 'running' towards them. 

Ola has been a 'shoulder to cry on' for husband James following the death of his father Allan who had been battling a brain tumour.

The professional dancer said it was 'shocking' to see a healthy man deteriorate so much over the last year. 

James revealed that his beloved dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer back in July, following four months of health woes and trips to the hospital.

The dancer shared the heartbreaking news on social media, as he appealed to his followers for help in finding a specialist surgeon for his dad.

Since then the dancer has spoken candidly about his father's deteriorating health, and being unable to visit him in hospital due to Covid restrictions, and broke down in tears on Loose Women last month while discussing Allan's terminal prognosis.

Hours before his father's death, James shared just how much he meant to him in a post that simply read: 'I love you dad' alongside a red heart emoji.

Over the weekend James then took to Instagram to share the tragic news of his father's passing, writing: 'My dad became an angel at 8:05am. I will forever miss him. He will always be my hero. RIP Daddy.'

Ola and James welcomed their little girl after a lengthy IVF battle, and the dancer said despite the struggles she's glad she waited until she was older to start a family.

Despite the challenges faced by many couples during lockdown, Ola added that her marriage to James is stronger than ever thanks to their sense of humour, though their lives as new parents had meant finding time for date nights has been hard.

The dancer also said she hasn't felt any pressure to slim down in the year since giving birth to her daughter, and is now content with her post-pregnancy figure.
