Breaking Now: Reports of Greenup Officers Shooting Suspect in Ohio
At about 6:30 pm on Sunday, police from Greenup County Kentucky was involved in a car chase that crossed over to Ohio. At about 7:15, in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, a call came out that shots were fired on private property.
According to units on scene, 4 officers from Kentucky (Greenup County and the City of Greenup) were involved. A Scioto County Sheriff's deputy on scene stated that the shots were fired by the Kentucky Officers. It is unknown how many officers discharged their weapons.
Scioto County Deputies were assisted by Ohio State Highway Patrol. Green Twp Volunteer EMS transported the suspect (who complained of chest pains and said he was shot) to SOMC. The ambulance was escorted by a Scioto County Deputy.
The Greenup County Police were told to set down their weapons and leave their cars in place. One supervisor stated, Make sure they do as you say, "I know they are police officers, but we've got an investigation to do."
The Mayor of Greenup, Lundie Meadows, arrived on the scene. Shortly after an administrator from the Greenup County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene.
According to the Scioto County Dispatchers Center, the suspect has several outstanding felony warrants in their jurisdiction.
This situation is still an active investigation.
