Jurgen Klopp has the unequivocal backing of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group, who are adamant he will lead the club out of their dreadful decline.
The Liverpool manager’s future has become a topic of debate as his team have crashed out of the title race.
Now even finishing in the top four is in doubt as they languish in eighth, seven points behind Chelsea in fourth.

FSG have seen Champions League qualification as the minimum requirement during their 10 years in control. A failure to finish in the top four cost Kenny Dalglish his job in 2012, while Brendan Rodgers never recovered from missing out in 2015.
The Americans, however, have faith in Klopp, who also enjoys the backing of the majority of fans. He has always been the man FSG wanted to oversee their project and nothing they have seen in recent months has made their faith waiver.
Klopp’s relationship with Mike Gordon, FSG’s president who oversees the day-to-day running of Liverpool, is also strong.

The odds are against Liverpool being in next season’s Champions League — the best route would appear to be lifting that trophy in May — but Klopp insisted last Friday that Liverpool would be strong enough to withstand a year outside the elite competition and FSG see the situation the same way.
Klopp is convinced Liverpool will be a different proposition next season, once key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson are back. FSG agree that a remarkable injury list has been a key factor in this campaign unravelling.
They are also aware that Klopp wants to strengthen his squad in the summer and they will back him in the transfer market.
Should Liverpool finish outside the top four, it will not impact on the recruitment budget.
Klopp’s immediate focus is on tomorrow’s last 16 Champions League clash against RB Leipzig. Liverpool hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg but
Leipzig’s Angelino thinks they can ‘exploit the weakness’ of Trent Alexander-Arnold and turn around the tie.
‘Arnold with the ball is unbelievable but he’s too offensive. We have to exploit the weakness and hopefully we can get a few more chances,’ he said.
