Terrifying moment a British driver clips a wall and FLIPS his Formula E car in horror crash in Saudi Arabia

• Alex Lynn's Mahindra car hit Mitch Evans' Jaguar and British driver overturned 
• Video footage shows he was incredibly lucky to come out relatively unscathed
• His car was seen flipping in the air and skidding along the track upside down  

British Formula E driver Alex Lynn is miraculously 'doing well' after he was involved in a terrifying horror crash during a race in Saudi Arabia. 

Footage of the incident shows the 27-year-old's Mahindra car collide with Mitch Evans' Jaguar at high speed before flipping upside down on track and hurtling towards the barriers in Diriyah. 

A fixed camera to the side of a right bend captured the dramatic moment Lynn took off, speeding down the straight before colliding with the wall just out of shot. 

The race was brought to a stop while medical staff rushed to attend the crash site and swiftly take Lynn to hospital. 

Formula E is a single-seater motorsport championship in which racers compete using only electric cars and has been steadily growing in popularity since the inaugural season back in 2014. 

Miraculously, Lynn is said to be doing 'well' and is in a stable condition following the requisite medical tests. 

Formula E tweeted: 'We are thankful that Alex Lynn is well after this accident. 

'Testament to the medical staff, marshals and the @FIA who keep our sport safe and to Mitch Evans who abandoned his race to run to Alex's aid.'

Evans later reflected on the crash to Motorsport.com: 'It was not a nice accident. Basically, I was defending hard from Alex into [Turn] 18 and he drove close to the wall.

'He didn't really back out of it. Was there room? I'm not sure, I need to see the replay. I hope there was and I didn't do anything out of order.

'But he clipped my rear wheel and had an aeroplane crash. It was really nasty. I saw him go into the wall and I jumped out to make sure he was okay.

'You never want to see that sort of stuff. He's a friend as well. You don't want to see people go through that.

'I've spoken to him. He seems all fine but he's gone [to hospital] as a precaution to make sure there's nothing after the shock has worn off.

'The main thing is he's all good.'

Lynn has been competing in Formula E since 2016 and fifth is his best finish. The race in Saudi Arabia continued after halting for the accident and Britain's Sam Bird claimed victory.
