"Back then, we didn't have a store you could just drive to and buy instruments," the now 57-year-old Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist tells Billboard. "But my family was very good at not letting us children become aware of our limitations. Instead they made us understand the importance of developing our skills in order to become a professional musician or whatever we wanted to be."
