The Best Alternative to the Robinhood App - Buying and Selling Stocks
2021-02-03
Note: This is not financial or trading advice. This is simply my opinion.
If you've heard any financial related news in the past 2 weeks, then you're aware of the name Robinhood. Here is a link to give you the background on what happened because I'd rather not recite it!
Robinhood is a broker-dealer allowing users to buy and sell stocks, options, and crypto. They pioneered the movement to zero-commission trades which wound up being followed by every other major brokerage. In recent weeks, they've been in the spotlight and heavily scrutinized by individuals in every tax bracket. Claims of corruption, fraud, and any other item of negativity has plagued them as they try to rebuild their image. Here is a link to explain why they have a bad reputation at the moment. Ironically though, due to the spike in the "meme stocks", Robinhood's download count increased by 1 million in January.
With all of this transpiring, there is a serious movement of users closing their trades on robinhood, withdrawing their funds, and deleting their accounts. If you're one of these users looking for a switch, or if you're simply looking to get started in trading and don't know how to, here is The Best Alternative to Robinhood:
Webull launched in 2017 and has always lagged behind Robinhood in the "Gen Z Broker" category, but I personally prefer it. Loads of Robinhood customers are flocking there to take advantage of their industry-leading Sign Up Bonus: Get 2 Free Stocks when you open an account and deposit $100. Are you likely to get stocks less than $10 in value? Sure, but it's "free" money either way.
Pros:
2 free stocks when you open an account!
Commission-free trades intraday
Trade stocks, options, ETFs, and crypto
Outstanding platform and advanced GUI
Deeper variety of crypto to trade than Robinhood or other stocks/etf/crypto platforms
Ability to trade in markets around the world
Offers a free IRA account
IPO investing tools
Cons:
Does not offer fractional shares
Smaller balance sheet than larger brokers
If you're a beginner, the data could be overwhelming
App Rating: 10/10
Their app is very intuitive, offers loads of detail but is very user friendly. It's great for day trading too.
