She's known for keeping her relationship with actor Sam Worthington extremely private.

But on Sunday, model Lara Worthington (née Bingle), 33, celebrated Christmas by sharing a public tribute to her 44-year-old husband on Instagram.

Posting to Instagram Stories, the mother-of-three uploaded a photo of Sam looking almost unrecognisable after getting rid of his wild lockdown beard.

'Thankful for him,' the Los Angeles-based blonde wrote alongside a series of heart emojis.

Lara's sweet post comes days after the pair celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary.

The couple, who secretly wed in Melbourne in 2014, are proud parents to three children, including sons Rocket, four, and Racer, two.

They are also parents to a third son, whose name they haven't yet disclosed.

Sam and Lara have been based in the US with their family for years, but reports recently claimed the couple are preparing to move back Down under next year.

According to Who magazine, Sam and Lara be temporarily moving to Australia while Sam performs in the Sydney Theatre Company's production, Appropriate, which begins filming in March.

Given that Sam is set to film the upcoming instalment of Avatar in New Zealand next year, it seems likely that he and his wife will also travel across the ditch to Australia as well.
