Montgomery County opens $5 million grant program for restaurants affected by COVID-19

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — $5 million is up for grabs in Montgomery County, but only for the restaurant and food service industry, as county officials hope to ease some of the burden brought on by the pandemic.

Montgomery County Commissioner Vice Chair Ken Lawrence said they're encouraging restaurants and any other food service businesses in need of support to look into applying for their Montco Strong 2021 restaurant grant program, awards grants of $10,000 each.

Applications for the program open Wednesday, December 30 and close the following Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Lawrence said the county has already awarded $20 million to businesses and nonprofits struggling due to the impact of COVID-19.

"We recognize the importance of this industry as a cornerstone of Montgomery County's economic and workforce development, as well as central to the growth of entrepreneurship, job opportunities, and our communities," he said.
