(STORRS, Conn.) The University of Connecticut announced on Friday that the men’s basketball game at Providence scheduled for next week will be postponed “following instruction from the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH).”

“Out of abundance of caution, the CT DPH advised UConn against competing in an intercollegiate contest before completing its recommended modified quarantine of 14 days,” the university wrote.

A student-athlete tested positive for coronavirus on Dec. 6 and daily testing has not revealed any additional positive cases since then. The team will resume practice on Dec. 14 if it continues to test negative for coronavirus.

The BIG EAST conference will announce schedule adjustments “at a later date,” according to the statement.
