A drunk, scantily-clad woman on a United Airlines flight to Texas on Thursday caused the plane to be diverted to Alabama after she became belligerent with another passenger and staff.
Sierra Nicole McClinton, 25, caused her Houston-bound flight to land at the Mobile Regional Airport after allegedly getting into an altercation with another passenger, the Mobile Airport Authority Police Department said on Monday.
A flight attendant stepped in to break up the fighting between the two passengers, Fox 10 reports.
The Universal City, Texas, woman had to be restrained by the attendant and another passenger until the plane landed in Alabama.
Once on the ground, police say that the woman exited the plane wearing only a T-shirt and underwear.
They also indicated that the woman was intoxicated, adding that she refused to obey officer's command.
McClinton faces charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
A person who had been on the flight managed to capture a photo of the woman sitting in the airport terminal, while surrounded by police.
She has a blanket covering the lower half of her body.
According to Instagram user Noah Dunne - who had been on the flight from Jacksonville, Florida, with McClinton - the woman had puked all over herself during the flight, taking off her pants soon after throwing up. It was then that the woman tried to fight the other passenger and staff, Dunne shared in the Instagram post.
'It's been a day, lol,' he shared in the post.
The Houston-bound flight did continue on to its destination without any incident.
In a statement to Fox News, a spokesperson for the CommutAir confirmed that the woman had been on one of their flights. The flight had been operating as a United Airline flight at the time.
'CommutAir flight 4332, operating as United Express from Jacksonville to Houston, diverted to Mobile when a passenger became disruptive,' the spokesperson added. 'The aircraft landed safely in Mobile where law enforcement officials met the aircraft at the gate. The flight continued on to Houston shortly after.'
