Las Vegas Keeps It Cool with Dylan's Family Ice Cream

Rachel Pintarelli

(Las Vegas, NV) My husband and I recently made the big move from Rhode Island to the hot, sunny desert lands of Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s a move that has been a long time in the making, and one we could not have been more excited to make.

While out and about our first week here, we were checking out our future neighborhood of North Las Vegas (where our home is being built), and happened across an adorable little ice cream shop on Losee Rd. With ice cream being my husband’s number one weakness, we substituted a proper lunch stop and instead went directly to dessert as our fuel stop for the day.

Upon entering Dylan’s Family Ice Cream, we were warmly greeted by the girl behind the counter who was anxious to help, and introduce us to an abundance of super yummy flavors. But it wasn’t just the sweet greeting on a hot day that had us feeling welcome. The atmosphere of Dylan’s is absolutely charming, bright and nostalgic. Bright pink walls, black and white checkered floors and an extra cool metal/tin wall that adds to the retro feel.

There is a book shelf overflowing with games, books, and so much more - inviting it’s customers to sit and stay awhile. Small little bistro tables make you feel like you’ve entered into a dessert parlor at a Disney Resort, it TRULY has that kind of feel. Yet, you are right there in the middle of North Las Vegas.

And as if the atmosphere wasn’t enough to woo me, I fell head over heels for the salted caramel ice cream with a crushed Heath candy topping. It was the most perfect mix I’ve had in a while and the ice cream miraculously didn’t feel too heavy. My husband enjoyed some sort of wonderful peanut butter concoction that kept him smiling until he reached the bottom of his cup.

Dylan's Family Ice Cream offers more than just ice cream though, which made it tough to choose! The menu boasts sherbets, shakes, soda floats and even ice cream samplers (sign me up!). I know we’ll be back again and again once we are finally living in the area and look forward to sampling all the different, delightful offerings that Dylan’s has ready and waiting for us.

This family establishment has truly “sweetened” the deal for us when it comes to living in our new neighborhood.
