Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Are Officially Engaged!

Pop princess Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have been dating since late 2016, and fans have been constantly curious about their future relationship timeline. In September of 2021, fans finally got confirmation that Britney and Sam are engaged! "The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them," Sam's agent told Page Six.
The news comes shortly after a picture of a diamond ring that appeared to be engraved with the word "lioness" was posted to Sam's Instagram account. The photo was eventually removed, with Sam claiming that his account had been "hacked." Obviously, as soon as fans saw the ring, they assumed that Sam had popped the question, or would be doing so eventually. As it turns out, it looks like fans' assumptions were exactly correct.
So is Britney Spears engaged? Yes!
Prior to the couple's official, Britney sparked some serious engagement rumors when she attended the July 22, 2019 Los Angeles premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood wearing a giant diamond ring on that finger. The singer didn't publicly acknowledge the ring she rocked on the red carpet, but did look pretty smitten with Sam during their date night.
How did Britney Spears and Sam Asghari meet?
The singer first met Sam, a fitness model, on set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. Britney later told CBS Radio's Fast in the Morning With Nathan Fast that she thought Sam was "really cute" the moment they met.
"We were doing the scene where I was doing the walk scene through the hall to go through the door to go to the bedroom and we were sitting there and waiting and waiting together for like 20 minutes at a time," she recalled.
"We were having to be literally stuck there together, so we were basically forced to talk to each other," she continued. "We started talking about sushi and started talking about things we like and like we should go to sushi one day."
Sam gave Britney his number, and the rest is history.
Has Britney been married before?
Yes — twice. On Jan. 3, 2004, Britney married her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The marriage was annulled shortly after.
In July 2004, Britney became engaged to backup dancer Kevin Federline. They had a wedding ceremony on Sept. 18, 2004, but weren't legally married until Oct. 6, 2004. The early days of their relationship were chronicled on the reality show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic.
Britney and Kevin have two sons together: Sean Preston (born in 2005) and Jayden James (2006). In November 2006, Britney filed for divorce from Kevin, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was not finalized until July 2007.
Britney was engaged a third time, but didn't make it down the aisle.
In December 2011, the pop star got engaged to her then-boyfriend and former agent Jason Trawick. The pair mutually ended their engagement in January 2013.
She's had her ups and downs, but Britney remains a romantic.
In 2015 interview with People, Britney said she "would love to" get married again, explaining, "I believe in the fairy tale." .
"I'm not really the person to ask what it takes to get married," she admitted, "but personally for me, it's about loving each other and communicating right and being respectful and honest."
