Westchester County honors the people who died on 9/11 and since from related illnesses

A dedication to never forget. That's the promise from families and neighbors across Westchester County who lost their loved ones on Sept. 11. The same goes for those who are still losing people they care about to related illnesses. More than 100 names were read off during the Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony at the Kensico Dam Plaza Wednesday afternoon. The names represent the lives lost on the day of the attacks. Dozens of other names were also read that represent the people who have died since that day from related illnesses. "He was around for a year and a half longer, he fought it that much so we were grateful for that," says Raymond Pennella who lost his brother to 9/11-related cancer. Loved ones of the victims tell News 12 this day is always difficult. However, they say coming together to remember helps. "He died from complications due to the cancer he developed after being down at ground zero for a year and a half with the construction company doing project management," says Pennella. Pennella's brother's name was Ronald. His name is one of eight that has been added to the 9/11 First Responders Memorial at the Kensico Dam. You can watch the full ceremony from Wednesday here. "
