Dozens of officers stood outside of the 48th Precinct silent from 8:40 to 8:45 a.m., that's the time the first plane hit one of the twin towers. This is tradition has been done at the 48th Precinct for over two decades. Commanding officer Denis O’Hanlon says it is important to honor those lives who were lost on Sept. 11 every year. It is especially important because some officers getting into the force weren't alive to see the tragedy happen. "
