Yachats car wreck Thursday lands Roseburg man in jail
YACHATS – A Roseburg man is in the Lincoln County jail after crashing his car Thursday in Yachats and fleeing into a neighborhood. Oregon State Police were able to track Derick L. Weinhold, 32, and charged him with driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving after the 2:30 p.m. incident.

Captured! LCSO K9 helps nab burglary suspects in Albany
Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 team Deputy Z. Akin and K9 Ghost were participating in regional K9 training in the Albany area when Albany Police (APD) were investigating an active commercial burglary of a gated storage unit complex located at 2887 Ferry St SW in Albany. In the course of that investigation, three subjects fled the location on foot. APD captured one subject quickly but requested assistance from the K9 teams in training to help locate the outstanding subjects. Deputy Akin and K9 Ghost were deployed. Akin and Ghost picked up a scent north of the location where they had been searching and tracked the two subjects to another commercial building nearby and ultimately located the subjects hiding under a loading dock. The subjects were challenged by Deputy Akin and K9 Ghost and quickly surrendered to APD officers on scene without resistance.

FATAL HEAD-ON CRASH ON HIGHWAY 34 IN LINN COUNTY, OREGON
LINN COUNTY, OR - On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 4:59 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-34, near milepost 1, in Linn County. The preliminary investigation indicated a Ford Fusion, operated by Jimmie Eugene Beck Jr (19) of Newport, was westbound on Hwy-34 in the fast lane. The Ford left the fast lane, crossing the center turn lane and into the oncoming eastbound lane where it struck a silver Nissan Versa, operated by Jennifer Davina Gere (43) of Lebanon, head-on.
