Newfane School District announces Dr. Lisa Krueger as next superintendent of schools

The Newfane School Board is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Lisa Krueger as the next superintendent of the Newfane School District. Krueger was appointed at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday, June 6.

Krueger launched her career in education in 2001 as an elementary teacher in the Lancaster School District before joining the Orchard Park Schools as the principal of Eggert Road Elementary School in 2004. She served in that role for eight years before her appointment as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and pupil services in 2012.

Krueger earned credentials as a teacher of elementary and mathematics education at the State University College at Buffalo, and master’s degrees from Buffalo State in reading education and educational leadership from Canisius College. Krueger was awarded her doctor of education from D’Youville University in May 2010.

Krueger will be returning to the community where she started her educational journey as a student and graduate of the Newfane Schools.

"I am absolutely honored for the opportunity to lead the school community that provided my educational foundation,” she said. “I am thankful to the board and the community stakeholder group for its time and commitment to the process, and look forward to serving the students and community members of Newfane."

Board President Santo Tomasine is excited about the opportunities Krueger’s appointment offers for the Newfane community.

“The board is delighted to welcome Dr. Krueger back to Newfane as our new superintendent,” Tomasine said. “She brings a wealth of experience, a strong vision of effective schooling, and a passion for building relationships with students, staff and the school community. Her knowledge and background will help us strengthen and enhance the great work taking place in our schools today.”

The Board of Education selected Krueger after a thorough selection process culminating in the interview of four finalists by the Board of Education, and a community stakeholder group comprised of administrators, teachers, support staff and community members.

Tomasine said, “The board was very pleased with the selection process and impressed by the commitment and engagement of the individuals representing the stakeholder group. In the end, the quality of our candidates was very strong and made our final decision quite difficult.”

Krueger is set to assume her duties as superintendent on Aug. 1.
