NEWBURG — The Newburg Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Spring Cleanup April 1.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. Interested individuals and groups can meet at the fire hall then to start work.
Nichole Larew, said the event involves cleanup from the Richard Taylor Memorial Bridge to Raccoon Valley Road. She said members of the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department will be picking up litter from Scotch Hill to the bridge.
“This is our first annual cleanup. We would like to make it an annual event,” she said.
Larew said all ages can participate, but children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. After the cleanup a free spaghetti dinner will be available for all participants.
There will also be free t-shirts for the kids and free raffle drawings.
Larew said adult prizes will include gift certificates for gas, groceries, pizza and baked goods. Kid prizes for ages 12 and under will include a boy’s bicycle, a girl’s bicycle and various games.
She said the prizes were provided by Chuck’s Store, Sugar Plum’s Bakery, Shop ‘n’ Save, and Matt’s Pizza.
