Former Portland Trail Blazer C.J. McCollum will be back in town next weekend for a big event planned in Newberg.
C.J. was introduced to wine by his wife Elise years ago, and while with the Blazers he started the wine label “McCollum Heritage ’91” – marking the year he was born - in partnership with Adelsheim Vineyard.
Even though the 11-year NBA veteran now plays for New Orleans, he has added his third rosé to his portfolio.
On June 3, C.J. will be at Adelsheim Vineyard for a meet-and-greet to celebrate the latest release.
“The funnest part, besides being able to say that you are in the space, is the comradery, the celebrations, the ability to come together and break bread with peers, with strangers, with friends,” said McCollum.
He said he is also drawn to the peace and open spaces that you can find at a vineyard.
In a conversation with KATU’s Joe Becker, McCollum said he is thankful for his time in Portland. He spent his first nine seasons in the NBA with the Blazers.
“I’m appreciative of what the fans have done and given me and my family, and what the organization has done,” he said.
C.J. also discussed his recent surgery on his right thumb and the recovery process.
“Once my thumb is healed I’ll be able to do some hot yoga, I’ll be able to play some tennis. I’ll be able to play pickleball. So I’m looking forward to getting to June and July, 'cause then I’ll be able to be more active outside,” said McCollum.
C.J. said the event at Adelsheim Vineyard will be limited to 150 people, with two sessions at 75 people per session.
